IO Interactive Announces New James Bond Game

After teasing a reveal yesterday, IO Interactive has officially lifted the lid off their new project: Project 007. The reveal trailer showed up the iconic James Bond barrel being loaded along with the working title and the fact that the game is being developed and published by IO Interactive. The game will feature an original Bond story, meaning it isn't simply an adaption of No Time To Die which releases in theaters next year, that has players suiting up to earn Bond's 00 status.

“It’s true that once in a while, the stars do align in our industry,” said IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak. “Creating an original Bond game is a monumental undertaking and I truly believe that IO Interactive, working closely with our creative partners at EON and MGM, can deliver something extremely special for our players and communities. Our passionate team is excited to unleash their creativity into the iconic James Bond universe and craft the most ambitious game in the history of our studio.”

While the reveal was a surprise, it's not all too shocking that the team that successfully rebooted Hitman is being trusted with another Secret Agent story. IOI is currently working on the highly anticipated third chapter in the Hitman series which was announced at a PlayStation 5 reveal event earlier this year. In last month's Nintendo Direct Mini, the team also announced that Hitman 3 will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch.
