How to Solve the Sliding Puzzle in Chronos: Before the Ashes

Chronos: Before the Ashes, the prequel to last year's Remnant: From the Ashes, releases today and as I stated in my review, most of the puzzles in the game are manageable. Keyword being most. There is one puzzle, however, that I think is too time-consuming because it is a literal sliding puzzle. Now having had to solve the maze from scratch, I can confidently say that knowing where every piece needs to go will help immensely. So I went back, solved the puzzles again, and am here to share with you the three solutions for the puzzle and in the ideal order. A few words of advice before we go on is that the path you are trying to create in the maze in front of you is the path that you then take to that corresponding portal. This also means that for the Purple Path, there are actually two ways to solve them. One final note is that there are color specific portals, and there are teleportation pads. The teleportation pad, just in case some players haven't put it together, is the tile with the blue/purple glyph on the puzzle. With that in mind, let's get to the solutions.

Yellow Path | After completing every path, you need to make your way through the maze in front of you to that path's corresponding building. In this case, the building with the yellow glyph in front of it. The path builds itself in front of you as you walk and the enemies are not too difficult. When you get there, you will find the yellow portal that will teleport you back to the puzzle. But first, you have to walk past it to the box that is tucked away on a pedestal on the other side. It contains a piece of the maze that is needed to complete it. You open the box by interacting with it in your inventory.

Purple Path | Now that you have the missing piece of the puzzle, you can complete the Purple Path. Enemies do get harder in this path as you make your way to the building with the purple glyph on it. Once again, once you reach that purple portal, you will also find near it a box that you have to pick up. Now as I said at the start, there are two paths for purple. What I show you above is one that is easiest if you want to just walk through the labyrinth to reach it. The other requires you to take the yellow portal again and then walk to the teleportation pad. This one is more straight forward. But both ways work. In order to get the other simply get the reverse L tile to the bottom left of the puzzle and the teleportation node to the space above it.

Orange Path | Finally we have the last part of the puzzle. There are a few important things to keep in mind after completing this maze. Firstly, this will activate the Orange portal. You will reach it after reading the building in front of you in the distance. The maze to reach the building is winding and tedious so I would highly recommend activating the portal to your left so you don't have to run through it every time you die. Secondly, walking past that portal in the building and entering the empty room will start the Labyrinth Guardian boss fight. This will be the last boss before taking on the Dreamer.

And there it is. Our first guide for a puzzle that really grinds the otherwise quick pace of Chronos to a halt. I hope this helps you get through it faster and if you're reading this right as you're in the labyrinth, keep going, you have maybe two hours left max.
